february show announcement / january show videos! 💞

It’s two-for-one Sunday! A little past, a little future. The perfect cocktail on the last Sunday of the first month of 2024. (I’ll give you a sec to put your head back on straight after that sentence – I know I needed one myself.)
Now let’s get into it!

Seasoned newsletter readers may remember the Ariana Grande concert I sang in at Green Room 42 back in September. It feels like just a few weeks ago, but it’s actually been so long that our NEXT concert is already underway! Spend your Galentine’s Day evening with us at LITTLE MISS BROKENHEARTED, a big-n-belty concert of iconic heartbreak songs. From recent pop hits to childhood throwbacks (childhood for zillennials like myself at least hehe) and beyond, this set features yet another cast of powerhouse vocalists supported by an incredible band. It doesn’t matter whether you’ll be spending the 14th Lady-and-the-Tramping some spaghetti with your lover (my dream) or watching The Golden Girls over a bowl of HMart instant cheese ramen (my reality); on the 13th we can all rock out together in harmony. 💞

The show kicks off at 9:30pm and will be LIVESTREAMED for anyone who can’t make it to Manhattan! I think it’s really brave of me to keep doing shows that are past my bedtime. Heroic, even. If you want to support my continued heroism, grab a ticket here: https://thegreenroom42.venuetix.com/show/details/zOy8fIUmn1NPWysE9xWk/1707877800000

And as always, if you would like to sponsor a ticket, email me! I’ll make sure the ticket is transferrable and that it gets to the people who need it. Sponsored tickets are always a huge help in making the work we do accessible for everyone, regardless of income, and I am always ineffably grateful to sponsors like you! 💝

Aaaaand now that we’ve done our housekeeping, let’s have a little treat. 🧁

Last week I played probably my favorite show to date. With my first ever full band behind me, a longer set time, a new song in my pocket, a super legit venue, and a packed crowd, I felt like a little baby rockstar. I’m humbled and warmed every time I play shows and people actually, like, come to them. I’m simultaneously flummoxed by the turnout and so, so proud of myself for kicking a little more ass every time. I already can’t wait to do more!

I wanted to share some clips from the show with you, my dear readers, including some of that new song I mentioned. It’s called “bubble wrap,” and while I don’t see it as 100% finished yet, I really love what I have so far. (The band also loved playing it. PHEW.) And for once I wrote something DANCEABLE! 🕺

Next is a clip from “couch (loud version),” a revamp I’ve been dying to explore for months now. The idea came from the times I’d turn to my own song to remind myself of my capacity for healing. Sort of a “say it louder for the people in the back” situation. As the heartbreaks get bigger, it seems the lessons have to be shouted louder for them to really stick.

And lastly, here’s a little clip of our cover of Paramore’s “That’s What You Get.” We all love Paramore and you can tell how much fun we had just rockin out with the audience singing along (and even jumping around in the back, big shoutout to those beauties). 💥

Thanks to everyone who took such killer videos and photos of us! 🥰

I’m as out of breath as you are by now, but ONE last melodic treat for you: the long-awaited Side Show reunion from January 9th. Here’s Alexa & me reprising our 2018 roles at 54 Below: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1jGVswzlO2QLILXkoYOf-ZOkiMBg0klWX/view?usp=sharing

Alright, that’s enough homework for a rainy Sunday evening. I hope you’ve all had a great January, a great weekend, a great day. Thanks as always for reading. Love you. 😚
